Salsa Musicality- Core Beats for Salsa Dancers

It is common that salsa dancers use the term “core beats” so highlight or mark specific beats while dancing ! In this video we make some examples with counts and then its application with music. You will practice how to move away from the basic salsa step in a very easy yet fun manner to dance to different instruments in the music or just to change the flow of the dance !

Salsa Musicality – No Pause (8 beats steps)

In this 5 min video, you get to train a bit faster tempo than usually done with the basic salsa step. Maria shows here different steps that you can use to increase the flow or speed of your dance to the 8 beats of the music ! This training allows you go open up your possibilities when salsa dancing, and play with the music and change the feeling of the dance with just this simple step ! In the second part you get to practice with Music.

Salsa Musicality – Syncopated beats for dancers

In this 5 min training we are explaining what it means for salsa dancers to dance to the syncopated beats ! You will train how you can increase the speed of your steps while keeping dancing to the music, and give a “boost” to your dancing ! First the explanation is given with counts and then we dance to the music.

Salsa Musicality – combination of some beats

In this training you will get a quick recap of the different steps and some beats you can highlight when dancing (check the musicality training videos). And then examples on how you can combine them. A freestyle with music using those steps is included at the second part of the video for you to get inspired and you can then perform similar kind of training and combinations !
Recommendation: get used to the individual steps first with music. Repeat to your own tempo as needed. Then play some music and improvise !
